Nurture your nature with free bird watching walks and bird-themed lectures, May through October Big Bear Lake, CA - Join Chirp the first Saturday of each month between May and October for educational bird watching walks exploring birding hot spots throughout the Big Bear Valley and San Bernardino National Forest. These walks provide birdwatchers at all levels of experience an opportunity to observe and identify local Big Bear birds, learn good birding locations, and enjoy Big Bear’s unique natural setting.
For more experienced birders, the bird walks provide a chance to get out and practice identification skills and share knowledge with fellow nature enthusiasts. The free bird walks leave from Chirp Nature Center at 8 am sharp and are open to all ages. Walks last approximately an hour and a half and sometimes include moderate walking or hiking. Participants carpool as needed, with an Adventure Pass, recommended, but not necessary. Locations vary each month depending on local conditions.
Complimentary refreshments, an opportunity to discuss the experience, ask questions and enjoy the company of your fellow birders will be provided at Chirp upon return.
