Summit Award and the Excellence in Business Award recipients are promoted throughout the year. They are awarded at the Annual Membership Meeting and Awards Breakfast in June. They receive ten complimentary tickets to the event when awards are presented before the business community, a floral arrangement, and an engraved plaque. They are interviewed for articles in The Grizzly, and in the Chamber eNews, and interviewed by KBHR radio. Award recipient logos are placed in 52 issues of eNews and on our Awards page here for a year.
Excellence in Business Award, Summit Award
The Chamber recognizes outstanding Big Bear Valley businesses in June at its Awards Breakfast and Annual General Membership Meeting. Award recipients are chosen after careful consideration based on specific criteria, including excellence in growth and performance, operations, response to business challenges and risks, the use of unique and innovative business practices, community image and contribution, and collaboration and partnerships with other Big Bear businesses.
To be considered for the honor, a business must be a Chamber member and located in the Big Bear Valley, serving the immediate area and/or beyond the Valley and must meet the criteria. Nominations are submitted by members of the Chamber Board of Directors.
The Excellence in Business Award (Ebbie) is awarded annually to up to two businesses that meets or exceeds the criteria of excellence in business practices, service to the community and high standards.
The Summit Award is given to a longstanding business in the community that exceeds the criteria. The award is only given if a deserving business is eligible, and is not awarded each year. Recipients receive a year of marketing through the Chamber, a handsome plaque, Annual Meeting and Awards program guest tickets and an opportunity to address the business community at the presentation. Awards were not given in 2020 or 2021 due to the Corona Virus pandemic.
