7 Things to Consider when Creating a Locals Discount Program or Promotion

1. Make it easy. The simpler the better.
2. Decide on the format for your promotion, such as a 2 for 1 deal, buy a product and get a discount on another product, a % off the total order or a % off one specific item. There are many possibilities, but the key is to keep it uncomplicated so people understand it and remember it.
3. Consider if you want locals to come in on specific days such as mid-week or can they come in anytime for the promotion?
4. Incorporate the promotion into all of your advertising.
Decide how the promotion will be administered. Will people need to show their driver’s license for the promotion?
6. Make sure to train your employees on the promotion so they know how it will be administered. The last thing you want is for someone to come to your business specifically for the promotion and not get it because of an improperly trained employee.
7. Finally, call the Chamber and tell us about your locals promotion and we will help spread the word by including it in the next Newsletter.
