The local chapter of the Sierra Club is hosting a hike to the Eye of God, via the PCT on Sunday, December 3rd at 8:30 AM. This hike takes us through a dense forest of Pinyon Pine dotted by the occasional Joshua Tree. After about a mile the tree canopy opens up into the high mountain desert. We will then take an access road to the Eye of God, a rose colored quartz boulder held sacred by the Serrano Indian tribe. This is an easy, five mile, in and out hike with anelevation gain of about 400 feet. Hikers will meet in the Von's parking lot and carpool to the trailhead. For more information on this hike or to make a reservation contact hike leader Peter Michelsen (760) 333-3103, firstname.lastname@example.org.
